hey im gonna be leaving high school in a couple of years and i would really love to travel to egypt with hopes of becomming an archeologist. has anyone actually done just that? if so what was it like? how much did it cost? was it wat you expected? so any answers would help me out alot! thanx -hannah | ||

Sorry for the delay in answering this. I went to Egypt on my own just as I was getting of high school nearly 2 years ago. I believe you're Canadian, right? I flew from Ottawa - London - Cairo and back for around $1400.00 CAD. You can book a cheap hotel (4 star) through hotelsegypt (www.hotelsegypt.com - ask for Arnvid) and travel to the various sites using local taxis and other forms of public transportation - or walk. You can get by on $3000.00 Canadian if you're careful and budget yourself accordingly (for roughly 10-14 days). To be safe, I'd save $4000.00 CAD just incase. | ||

You will always wish you had more time. You'll never be able to see everything you want to see in one trip alone. On that trip I spent around 8 hours per day for 8 days on the Giza Plateau and still didn't see everything. The rest of my time was spent at other pyramid sites in Lower Egypt and the Museum. | ||
