Hi everyone. My husband and I are going back to Egypt in May. It seems like we always hear from people that they got this "great deal" on airfare from the US... from 500-800 per ticket. Every time we fly we end up spending more then 1000 per ticket to go to Cairo. Are there any tips or tricks to getting good fares? We live near Detroit, and can fly out of here or Toledo. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide! |

Sonny I checked their webpage... out of Detroit and Toledo it's still over 1500 dollars. In your opinion, is it better to wait until about a month/2 weeks before your trip to book? Does it get cheaper? Corinne |

KLM has special prices...check their offices! Aslo think of just getting a cheap flight to Europe...for example Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich and a charterflight to Cairo or Luxor from those places.....I just payed 250 $US for Munich-Luxor-Munich with Aero Lloyd. greetinx Sonny |

In November 2001, we flew to Egypt on Corsair for $399 round trip from Los Angeles to Paris and then caught a flight from Paris to Cairo on Air France (only to learn later that Corsair may still fly to Cairo--I'm still not sure). I understand that Corsair also flies out of New York. Their travel agency is New Frontiers--likely in Montreal. This is a charter with high quality aircraft and terrific service. We enjoyed the flights as much as our stay in Cairo. Barbara |

Yikes... I'd hate to be stuck on one of those planes. We had a horrible experience with Northwest on our home from Egypt last time... It's a long story, but to make it short- All of our bags (a months worth of luggage and gifts) were searched in the Rome airport based on (I'm quoting) "You have to realize that people of certian nationalities can't expect to get the same treatment as others". Meaning, since your husband is Arabic, you must be searched. We were escorted through the airport, armed guards and all... horrible experience. Anyway, we've found a travel agent here that *promises* a flight to Cairo for 600 dollars each. Seems too good to be true... We'll see. Meanwile I'll see what I can find along the lines of going to Europe then chartering to Cairo. Thanks! Corinne |

Thanks for the interesting comments above. My roommate and I stumbled across this posting site, and were encouraged by the advice. We also thought to share that we just flew last week to Cairo via Milan on Alitalia for $691. We had no problems with service or security, and enjoyed pleasant flights both ways. Hope this helps, and any further posts you think will help are greatly appreciated! |
