I am looking for the name and phone no. of a hotel owner on W. Bank of Luxor. While staying in Luxor in 11/00 I met a small hotel owner from west bank (stated that Kent Weeks stays at his hotel) and hired one of his drivers to take us to Edfu and Esna. The trip was only 80 pounds, we were out for 14 hours and we were driven in a new VW Mini Van. The hotel owner rented out new vehicles and hired drivers for the tours. Can anyone help? Thanks Robert |

Sorry I am kind of late with reply..... there are half a dozen hotels on the westbank of Luxor. Kent West was staying in the "Amon el Gezira" if I remember correctly. It's hidden in the village of Gezirah. Two hotels there...the Gezirah Hotel (now added an appartment hotel) owned by Gamal and the one I mentioned above. So contact Ahmed Mahmud Soliman, hotel phone: 310912 Fax: 311205 Private: 311353 his mobile: 0122732754 for mobile only country code (+20) necessary if calling from outside Egypt. Code for Luxor is (0)95 Actually all hotel owners can provide you with drivers and airconditioned mini vans. Ahmed is ok and a trustable person. I know him since more than 10 years. Hope this helps. greetinx Sonny (el almani) |

That's why I asked - you're our resident expert on that area! And, I do look forward to finally meeting up with you in Luxor one of these days. Will you be there in late February 2003? That looks to be the timeframe for our next trip, hopefully I will be going twice in 2003. Regards, Andrew |

Note: The Soliman family is well known on the West Bank for their honesty and industry. Several members of the family own small hotels, furnish reasonable priced transportation and know how to get you into about anyplace you want to visit. Ibrahim Soliman, Chief Inspector of the Valley of the Kings, and his wife Isabella, have a small hotel within walking distance of the ferry and have the best food on the West Bank. |

Andrew, >>Will you be there in late February 2003?>> >>hopefully I will be going twice in 2003.s<< A trip in February 2003 is planned. Best time of the year...getting warmer and less tourists. You pay the drinks and I get the transportation in Luxor. >s< George, think we talk of the same hotel, as usual they are owned by the whole family. Best food? well, George, you know as well that there are excellent places on the westbank.... >s< greetinx Sonny greetinx Sonny |
