Dear Friends: I was wondering if any tests have been done on mummies recently, obtaining mitochondrial DNA samples from mummies to test for anything other than family relationships. Mitochondrial DNA has been used to look at population relatedness/diversity, and was wondering if any research was directed toward that end. Thanks for any update. |

Dear Members, i am back for a short comment: ******************************* In context with the recent Tutankhamen//AMARNA-related DNA-studies, covering the identity of the KV35YL-mummy as well, a new theory was presented by Juan de la Torre Suarez. He speculates that KV35-YL is the sister of Nefertiti, BeneretMut and that her and AkhenAten are cousins, not siblings. Juan also states that it is her, not MekitAten, that is depicted on the walls of the Royal Tomb at Amarna, dying soon after childbirth. More details at: ================= http://www.egiptomania.com/historia/beneretmut-adn-kv35yl.htm ******************************* best regards as always: Bernie ******************************* |
